Having tonnes and tonnes of discussions every single day (sometimes several times a day)on “why we are suppressed and limited in Iran”, “why we should bear any sort of obligations from the government” and “what we actually could do about it”, I as a 3rd generation Iranian youth, have always looked upon the above vague problem statements through a realistic & result-oriented point of view.
The fact that what we bear is what we’ve chosen (Either actively or passively, in a society rather than as an individual) makes me less oriented towards the “Who is guilty?” approach, and more towards “How to establish change.” This has led me into a series of social experiences which have overally modified my image in life and to the communities around me; Participating freely, getting involved passionately, and learning immensely!
In my belief one can not change the whole society, but by starting to percieve its strategic role in it, as well as in the smaller segments of the society.
Questions as below may be of help in this analysis:
- Who am I? What is my function in society and different segments?
- How do I percieve the context of society and the set of relationships existing it (No matter relevant or irrelevant to me)?
- What layers do you find in the society and how are they inter-related?
- What is the quickest way to reach an influence on the broadest layers? What is the most influential way?
And lot’s of analytical questions coming afterwards the results.
To let you see that I’m not only fooling around and giving off simple daily discussions in here, I’m going to show you how I’d implement this approach (along with other convictions of mine from the context I’m living in) in my next posts.
